Graceland Pre-School is an educational project that serves children of farm workers in the Devon Valley community of Stellenbosch. At Graceland, we believe that access to quality ECD services is part of creating equal opportunity for this next generation of learners. Providing quality pre-school education to children who would, for the most part, have nowhere else to go while their parents are at work.
WHY WE DO IT
It is beyond argument that the extent to which children develop in their early years has a significant impact on their potential later in life. This is the primary reason behind the drive for Early Childhood Development (ECD) in South Africa. The guiding principle is that a well-equipped child makes for a well-equipped teenager, who is bound to become a better-equipped adult.
Our approach focuses on every aspects of a child’s development, from emotional to social and physical, as well as sensory, cognitive and communicative skills. With this approach, which is in line with the relevant South African legislation and the World Health Organisation requirements, we are capable of contributing to shaping healthy, well-balanced individuals.
Research has shown that children who attend two years of pre-school have a greater chance of completing their twelfth year of school successfully.
HOW WE DO IT

- Skilled and qualified staff teaching vital Early Childhood Development skills within the requirements of the Department of Social Development and the Department of Basic Education
- Nutritional meals are provided to the learners every day; Breakfast, Lunch with a healthy snack in between.
- Our school facilities include 2 classrooms, a kitchen, children’s bathrooms, play area, fantasy playroom, a big garden, and an admin office.
- Graceland Pre-School is a feeder school to the local, Devon Valley Primary School which is in close proximity.
